Green Living Audit
Our second project in Graphics Design Sustainability & Ethics class was to keep track of all the energy and paper we used over the course of three days. The goal of the project was to start becoming aware of our habits and intentions. By recognizing these patterns, we could start making small changes in our lives that would eventually lead into much larger changes towards sustainable living.
With that data, we researched and produced informational graphics, and as a group created a website showing the results of the project. (Spring 2009)
Results: through this exercise, I was able to recognize that my energy consumption was extremely high, due to excess use of my laptop.

In order to change my habits, I created a desktop wallpaper to remind myself to turn it off when I didn’t need it on, or when I wasn’t being productive. It was also interesting to see just how many scraps of paper pass through my way on a daily basis, and I’ve since taken steps to minimize paper consumption, especially in the workplace.
